Who?As an artist, I sit in solitude for many hours and create things. I then share those things, whether it's through social media, tattooing someone, hanging a painting in a show, or maybe just leaving some stickers at a coffee shop. As a fan of art and visual media, when I see something that captures my attention, I immediately imagine what the person behind the art is like. Maybe it's similar for you? So, I thought I'd start blogging a little bit for some insight into who I am. Behind the scenes so to speak. I also intend to do more videos on my process or other fun little videos. You may not care, which is cool, you certainly don't need to. If you do, or are curious, check back every week or so. That being said, here is a very brief introduction.
I have been obsessed with art, artists, and art materials for over 30 years. Nearly everyday of my adult life has revolved around art in someway. Not just making art personally, but interacting with other artists, looking at art, learning about art and different mediums, etc. Over the past 3 decades I have been in numerous gallery shows, designed skateboard graphics, done illustrations for publications, painted large scale murals and interior theme rooms, pinstriped, taught elementary school art, taught art at the Nevada Museum of Art, managed 2 Bay Area art supply stores, and, over the last decade, tattooed, which is what I am best known for. Most fulfilling to me has been the opportunity to be involved with and contribute to local art related events and venues like The Holland Project, The Never Ender, and The Nevada Museum of Art. Aside from a life filled with art, being a Father of 2 teens and a 4 year old(I know, I know), has been the most unexpected and rewarding aspect for me. I am truly blessed to have been given the opportunity to raise 2 of them as a single Father. The oldest are both heavily involved in the local art and music scene making me a very proud Dad. Thanks for reading! - Ron
